As Educational Partner, the Observatory of Security and CBRNe Defence is glad to invite its network to the 2018 Edition of CBRNe Science and Consequence Management (CSCM) Congress, held from 2nd to 6th of September in Cavtat, Croatia.

Since its first edition in 1998, with the name of CBMTS Industry Conference, the CBRNe Science and Consequence Management (CSCM) Congress qualified itself as a milestone for the CBRNe research sector. After the renaming, very successful Congress has been held in both Croatia and Georgia, continuing the tradition of two decades of Congresses. This year, the International Organizing Committee (IOC) is very pleased to hold the Congress in Cavtat with the projected support of the Government of Croatia with the Ministry of Defense and State Directorate of Protection and Rescue of the Republic of Croatia; the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia; the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia; the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia; the Ministry of Economy the Republic of Croatia; the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Croatia; the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Croatia; the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Croatia and the Customs Administration of the Republic of Croatia.

Many are also the other institutions and international organizations who will attend the CSCM Congress, such as the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service; the Croatian Institute for Public Health; the Croatian Agency for Food Security; the Croatian Society for Biosafety and Biosecurity; the Medical Academy of Zagreb; the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Veterinary of the University of Zagreb; the Medical Academy of Zagreb; the Croatian Veterinary Institute; the State Directorate for Radiological and Nuclear Safety of Croatia; the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons – OPCW; the US European Command; FBI; Interpol; Europol; the US Department of Homeland Security, Domestic Nuclear Detection Office; the NATO CBRN Center of Excellence; CDC – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; DTRA – The Defense Threat Reduction Agency; the Idaho National Laboratory; the US Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense; the Emory University of Atlanta.

CSCM involves the participation of a nearly 2,000 high-ranking scientists and professionals from the fields of medicine, toxicology, biochemical sciences, physics, and biotechnology as well as the military of almost 50 countries involved in preventing the spread of knowledge and technology concerning weapons of mass destruction.

Among the most considered subject, it can be included: approaches, methodologies, and systems of detection; identification of CBR substances; personal and collective protection; decontamination; evaluation of possible consequences and medical treatment in the event of a CBRNe threat and/or occurrence.

Thanks to this annual meetings and the network of CBRN experts and professionals that have created, there have been over 2,500 international scientific papers published, contributing to international science.
