The World Congress on CBRNe Applied Science and Consequence Management โ CSCM 2023 โ is just one month away. It promises to be an event of unparalleled significance in the field of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear studies and public protection. This prestigious Congress is organized by the International Organizing Committee and holds the patronage of several Croatian Ministries. It will take place from the 23rd to the 27th of October, 2023, in the picturesque town of Cavtat, Croatia, a short distance from the captivating city of Dubrovnik.
One of the notable figures associated with this event is Dr. Damir Trut, the Director of the Croatian Civil Protection Directorate, who serves as the Honorary Congress Director. The CSCM Congress is jointly organized and supported by various Croatian Ministries, including Interior, Defense, Science and Education, Health, and Economy and Sustainable Development.
Moreover, the European Centre for Disaster Medicine and the Observatory on Security and CBRNe Defense will be co-organizing the congress, adding to its prestige. The event has received sponsorship from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons โ OPCW, and endorsements from the University of Rome โTor Vergataโ – Department of Electronic Engineering and the State University of the Republic of San Marino – Center for Security Studies.
The 2023 CSCM World Congress boasts an impressive lineup, with over 300 confirmed participants from + 40 countries and 30 distinguished keynote speakers who hold significant military and civilian positions. Attendees can expect to immerse themselves in a program that includes over 100 lectures and presentations covering diverse CBRNe topics. The event will also feature live demonstrations showcasing the latest cutting-edge technologies.
On the spotlight
One of the key highlights of the congress is the “Joint Multinational Exercise Responding to CBRNe Threats” scheduled for 25 October, 2023. This exercise will demonstrate the capabilities of new technologies in defense, protection, and situational awareness. It will also address issues related to CBRNe terrorism and cross-border spread of duel-use technologies, as well as the detection, identification, reconnaissance, sampling, monitoring, decontamination, and mitigation of unconventional threats.
In addition to the main congress, there will be a Workshop on “New Technologies in the Protection of Critical Infrastructure from CBRNe Threats” and a “Radiological Response Training Workshop” from 22 to 24 October, 2023. The latter aims to provide comprehensive and practical training to emergency responders, government officials, and stakeholders in managing radiological contamination incidents.
OSDIFE will be a main partner of the congress, contributing to the executive direction as part of the board, where Jeffrey Allen, Mason Soule, Zvonko Orehovec and Roberto Mugavero – OSDIFE President – are appointed as Executive Directors.
